1st GAMM cachet non-FDC, Carter-Mondale Inauguration Day Cover, January 20, 1977

Inauguration-day cover commemorating President James Earl Carter and Vice President Walter F. Mondale on January 20, 1977. The dual-portrait cachet by Gerry Adlman (GAMM Cachets) renders Carter and Mondale in a stippled red-and-blue style, but incorrectly labels Mondale the 41st vice president; he was the 42nd. Two Scott #1596 13-cent 'One Nation Indivisible' eagle stamps are affixed with an 'INAUGURATION DAY' machine cancel and circular Plains, Georgia markings. This is not a first day of issue for the stamp.

This inauguration day cover features two oval portrait cachets in pink and blue: James Earl Carter (39th President) in the upper left and Walter F. Mondale (41st Vice President) in the lower center, both rendered in a stippled/dot-matrix style. The cachet text is printed in blue italic script with red lettering at the bottom reading 'INAUGURATION DAY JANUARY 20, 1977.' Two identical USA 13-cent 'One Nation Indivisible / E Pluribus Unum' eagle stamps (Scott #1716) are affixed, one with a machine cancel reading 'INAUGURATION DAY' and one with a bullseye postmark. The cover is unaddressed and appears to be in excellent condition.

Mistral

This First Day Cover celebrates the inauguration of President James Earl Carter and Vice President Walter F. Mondale on January 20, 1977. The cachet features oval portraits of Carter and Mondale in a stippled style, with blue and red ink, alongside printed text identifying their roles. Two 13-cent 'One Nation Indivisible' eagle stamps are affixed, canceled with a machine postmark reading 'INAUGURATION DAY' and a bullseye cancel from Plains, Georgia. The cover is in excellent condition with clear, legible details.

(The automatic summaries sometimes misidentify the postmark as part of the cachet artwork.)
